Osong Public Health and Research Perspectives (Osong PHRP) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that aims to advance public health research and practice, with particular relevance to the Asia-Pacific region and applicability worldwide. The journal welcomes original research, reviews, and other scholarly contributions in four broad areas: public health, infectious diseases, epidemiology, and related health sciences.
The Public Health category covers health systems, risk communication, implementation science, community-based interventions, and the prediction and prevention of public health threats. The Infectious Diseases category covers emerging and zoonotic infections, outbreak investigation and disease surveillance (including genomic and molecular surveillance), vaccine effectiveness, antimicrobial resistance, One Health approaches, and infectious disease prevention and control. The Epidemiology category covers epidemiological methods and their applications, disease surveillance methodology, data resources, and research connecting environmental factors, including climate change, with patterns of infectious and chronic diseases. The Related Health Sciences category covers noncommunicable diseases and healthy aging, health policy, environmental and occupational health, digital public health, and health data science.
Within this broad scope, Osong PHRP particularly encourages submissions on national and regional disease surveillance; outbreak investigation and response; infectious disease prevention and control; vaccine effectiveness; vector-borne and zoonotic diseases; antimicrobial resistance; One Health; and public health intervention and implementation science. These priorities reflect the journal’s core strengths and distinctive contribution to the field.
